Paseo de la Resaca: Vision Statement for the Village Center
The Village Center is the "Heart" of a community and they traditionally mature only after a critical mass of housing, educational, recreation and other amenities and services have arrived in a new community. The Paseo de la Resaca community is rapidly moving into that position and it is therefore fitting that serious urban design and planning now begin for the "heart" of this new village.

This report is the beginning of that important process. Over time the Village Center will become a magnificent "people place" with spaces and places for a host of mixed use activities.
It will become an important destination for people from Brownsville and beyond. A place for people that provides an enriching and up-lifting combination of retail, commercial, urban housing, recreational, cultural and entertainment activities, all in a landscaped waterfront setting.

The development on this site's 65 acres will serve not only the remaining "1,000 acres of excellence but the areas far beyond these project limits. It will become an important economic addition to the city of Brownsville, adding to its tax base , but also contributing to the City´s " sense of community" and "Quality of Life"
