The City of Brownsville is currently reforesting the area using the City´s tree spade. Recently the city adopted a policy which relocates valuable trees destined for destruction to city property. As such, the city will continue to relocate trees to all the trails within the Paseo de la Resaca Parkway. The Central Parkway consists of 50 acres with "green belts" and trails surrounding and along the navigable waterway called Resaca Calmada. Brownsville is one of the fastest growing cities in Texas and the Central Parkway Trails will be located directly in the fastest growing part of the city. Brownsville was recently designated as an American Heritage River City. It is hoped that this fact will strengthen funding considerations for projects within the City.
