4.15 miles of Hike and Bike Trails which will connect two now isolated, sections of Hike and Bike Trails and Parkways which have already received funding from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, The City of Brownsville and the Developer who donated the land to the city. The Central Parkway Trails will link or connect the 1.5 miles of the Hike and Bike Trails of the Texas Trail of Trees with the one mile of Hike and Bike Trails at the Brownsville Tennis Center. The connecting Trails are 12 ´ wide concrete with center asphalt design as per AASHTO standards and ADA requirements. Funding is also requested for 4 bridges (two have already been built and will be donated by the developer) The installation of 10 lighting standards 5 water fountains, 6 benches and landscape improvements, all of which meet ADA standards. Funding will be provided from other sources for irrigation and reforestation of the areas surrounding this trails.
